    Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy

    Juicy, flavorful, and comforting this homemade Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy is the ultimate hearty family dinner! Tender ground beef patties simmered in a rich, savory onion gravy for a restaurant-style meal made right in your kitchen.

    Ingredients for Salisbury Steak:

    1 pound ground beef
    ⅓ cup bread crumbs
    2 teaspoons ketchup
    1 teaspoon mustard
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional if not adding onions to the gravy.

    Ingredients for Onion Gravy:

    1 small onion, thinly sliced
    1 teaspoon oil
    2 cups beef broth
    4 tablespoons flour
    1 teaspoon ketchup
    ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

    Directions:

    Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté until golden brown and caramelized (about 7–8 minutes). Set aside.

    In a bowl, mix ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using). Form into 3–4 equal patties, pressing a small indent in the center to help them cook evenly.

    Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 15–20 minutes, flipping every 5–6 minutes until fully cooked (internal temperature 165°F).

    Remove patties and set aside. Whisk flour with 1 cup of beef broth until smooth. Pour out excess grease from the pan, leaving about 3–4 tablespoons.

    Add 1 cup beef broth to the pan and bring to a simmer. Slowly whisk in the flour mixture. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and salt to taste. Continue whisking until the gravy thickens.

    Stir the caramelized onions into the gravy, then return the Salisbury steaks to the pan. Simmer for a few minutes until hot and coated in rich onion gravy.

    Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles for the perfect comforting dinner!
