Crispy Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks Recipe
Get ready for the ultimate cheesy snack! These Cheesy Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks are golden, crispy on the outside, and gooey on the inside perfect for game day, parties, or a late-night craving!
Ingredients:
12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Cooking spray
Marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Mozzarella:
Cut each cheese stick in half and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Freeze for 1–2 hours until firm this helps keep them from melting too quickly.
2. Set Up the Breading Stations:
In one bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until smooth.
In a third bowl, combine panko and Italian breadcrumbs for that extra crunch.
3. Coat the Cheese:
Roll each frozen cheese stick in the flour mixture, dip into the egg mixture, and then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
4. Freeze Again:
Place the coated sticks back on the baking sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes this step prevents the cheese from oozing out while cooking.
5. Air Fry:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Spray the basket lightly with cooking spray, place the mozzarella sticks in a single layer, and spray the tops.
Cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
6. Serve:
Let them cool slightly before serving with warm marinara sauce for that gooey, cheesy dip!
