    Crock Pot Salisbury Steak Recipe

     

    This Crock Pot Salisbury Steak is the ultimate comfort food, featuring tender beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy. It’s slow-cooked to perfection, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. Perfect for busy weeknights, this recipe is easy to prepare and pairs wonderfully with creamy mashed potatoes or rice. The savory gravy is thickened just before serving, ensuring a luscious, hearty meal. It’s a family favorite that’s sure to bring everyone back for seconds!

    Ingredients:

    Salisbury Steak

    1 pound ground beef

    1/2 cup bread crumbs

    2 tablespoons ketchup

    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

    1 teaspoon mustard powder

    1 egg

    Salt and pepper to taste

    2 tablespoons butter

    Gravy

    6 ounces mushrooms, sliced

    1/2 large onion, sliced

    2 1/2 cups beef broth

    2 tablespoons ketchup

    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    1 tablespoon water

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Crock Pot Base

    Place the sliced mushrooms and onions in the bottom of your crock pot for a flavorful foundation.

    2. Mix the Salisbury Steak Patties

    In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and shape into 4 oval patties.

    3. Brown the Patties

    Heat butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties for about 3 minutes on each side, just until browned (they don’t need to cook through).

    4. Assemble in the Crock Pot

    Layer the browned patties over the mushrooms and onions.

    5. Create the Gravy

    In a medium bowl, whisk together beef broth, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture over the patties in the crock pot.

    6. Cook Low and Slow

    Cover and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 5 hours until the patties are tender and infused with flavor.

    7. Thicken the Gravy

    Remove the patties from the crock pot and set aside. Mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry, then stir it into the broth. Let it cook for a few minutes until the gravy thickens.

    8. Finish and Serve

    Return the patties to the crock pot, gently coating them in the gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve over mashed potatoes for a classic, cozy dinner.
