Ingredients:
For the Meatloaf:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup breadcrumbs
½ cup milk
¼ cup ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp dried thyme
½ tsp dried basil
½ tsp paprika
For the Cheesesteak Filling:
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup provolone or American cheese (or Cheese Whiz for classic Philly flavor)
Instructions:
Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Mix the Meatloaf Base: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, bell pepper, garlic, breadcrumbs, and milk. Stir well.
Season It Up: Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, oregano, thyme, basil, and paprika. Mix until fully combined.
Flatten & Fill: On a piece of wax paper or foil, flatten the meat mixture into a ½-inch thick rectangle.
Layer the Cheesesteak Goodness: Spread mushrooms and cheese over the meat, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Roll & Seal: Carefully roll the meatloaf into a log, sealing the edges to lock in the cheesy filling.
Bake to Perfection: Place the rolled meatloaf seam-side down in a baking dish. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the internal temp reaches 160°F (71°C).
Rest & Serve: Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy with sautéed onions, peppers, or a side of crispy fries!
