Ingredients:
12 lasagna noodles
1 lb ground beef
½ lb Italian sausage
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp dried oregano
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 large eggs
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Preheat & Cook Noodles:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Make the Meat Sauce:
In a large skillet, sauté chopped onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until soft. Add ground beef and Italian sausage; cook until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 20–30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Mix the Ricotta Filling:
In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, eggs, fresh parsley, and half the Parmesan cheese. Blend until smooth.
4. Assemble the Lasagna Layers:
In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce. Add a layer of noodles, followed by ⅓ of the ricotta mix and ⅓ of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat for 3 layers, ending with meat sauce and a generous sprinkle of mozzarella on top.
5. Bake to Perfection:
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an extra 10 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
6. Cool & Serve:
Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with remaining Parmesan and fresh parsley.
