    Spicy Louisiana Shrimp Creole

     

    Spicy Louisiana Shrimp Creole

     

    A bold and flavorful Cajun classic! This Spicy Shrimp Creole features juicy shrimp simmered in a rich, zesty Creole sauce packed with tomatoes, bell peppers, garlic, and smoky Cajun seasoning. Serve it over fluffy white rice for a comforting Southern meal.

    Ingredients:

    1 lb shrimp (peeled & deveined)
    2 tbsp olive oil
    1 small onion (diced)
    1 small green bell pepper (diced)
    1 small celery stalk (diced)
    3 cloves garlic (minced)
    1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
    1/2 cup tomato sauce
    1/2 cup chicken broth
    1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    1 tsp smoked paprika
    1 tsp Cajun seasoning
    1/2 tsp dried thyme
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
    1 bay leaf
    1 tbsp hot sauce (optional, for extra heat)
    2 green onions (sliced, for garnish)
    1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
    Cooked white rice (for serving)

    Instructions:

    Sauté the Holy Trinity Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery, and cook for 5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

    Make the Creole Sauce Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, Cajun seasoning, thyme, black pepper, cayenne, and bay leaf. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.

    Cook the Shrimp Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the bay leaf.

    Serve & Enjoy Stir in hot sauce (if using), then garnish with green onions and parsley. Serve hot over steamed white rice!

    Storage & Reheating:

    Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
    Reheat on the stove over low heat until warmed through.

    Serving Ideas:

    Serve with buttery cornbread or a crusty baguette to soak up the sauce.
    Try it over creamy grits for a Southern twist.

    Variations:

    Extra Spicy? Add more cayenne or diced jalapeño.
    Seafood Mix? Toss in crawfish or crab meat.
    Thicker Sauce? Mash some of the tomatoes for a heartier texture.
