    Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions

     

    Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions

     

    Get ready to enjoy the bold flavors of this Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions a quick and easy stir-fry that’s bursting with savory goodness! Perfect for a busy weeknight or a delicious takeout-style meal at home.

     

    Ingredients:

    For the Steak Marinade

    1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

    2 tablespoons soy sauce

    1 tablespoon cornstarch

    1 tablespoon vegetable oil

    For the Stir-Fry

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1 large onion, thinly sliced

    1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)

    1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

    3 cloves garlic, minced

    1 tablespoon ginger, minced

    1/2 cup beef broth

    2 tablespoons soy sauce

    1 tablespoon oyster sauce

    1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

    1 tablespoon rice vinegar

    1 teaspoon sugar

    1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

    1/4 teaspoon black pepper

    1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

    Cooked white or steamed rice, for serving

     

    Instructions:

    1. Marinate the Steak

    1. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil.

    2. Add the thinly sliced flank steak and toss to coat evenly.

    3. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to lock in flavor.

     

    2. Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce

    1. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and black pepper.

    2. Set aside for later.

     

    3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables

    1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

    2. Add sliced onion and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.

    3. Add minced garlic and ginger, cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

    4. Remove from the pan and set aside.

     

    4. Cook the Steak

    1. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the pan.

    2. Add the marinated steak in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.

     

    5. Combine and Finish the Dish

    1. Add the cooked vegetables back into the pan.

    2. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the mixture.

    3. Bring to a simmer and stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce.

    4. Add red pepper flakes if you like extra heat. Cook for 2–3 more minutes until the sauce thickens.

     

    Serving Suggestion

    Serve hot over a bed of fluffy white rice or steamed rice for a complete meal.
