    Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf Recipe

     

    Looking for the ultimate comfort food dinner? This Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is loaded with gooey mozzarella, savory provolone, sautéed onions, garlic, and bell peppers all the bold, cheesy flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak wrapped in a juicy meatloaf!

     

    Ingredients:

    For the Cheesesteak Meatloaf:

    1½ lbs ground beef

    1 small onion, finely diced

    1 small green bell pepper, finely diced

    1 small red bell pepper, finely diced (optional)

    1 tsp minced garlic

    1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    ½ cup provolone cheese (shredded or cut into small pieces)

    ½ cup breadcrumbs

    2 large eggs

    2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

    1 tsp salt

    ½ tsp black pepper

    Optional Toppings:

    Extra provolone or mozzarella cheese slices

    Sautéed bell peppers and onions for garnish

     

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

    2. Sauté the Veggies:
    In a skillet over medium heat, cook diced onions, green and red bell peppers, and minced garlic until softened (about 5–7 minutes). Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

    3. Mix the Meatloaf:
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, shredded mozzarella, and provolone cheese. Mix until just combined avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.

    4. Shape and Bake:
    Press the mixture into the prepared loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet. Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

    5. Add Toppings (Optional):
    During the last 10 minutes of baking, layer slices of provolone or mozzarella on top. Return to oven and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly. For added flavor, top with sautéed peppers and onions after baking.

    6. Rest and Serve:
    Let the cheesesteak meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or in a toasted hoagie roll for a Philly-style sandwich experience!
