    Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls

    Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls

Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls combine the classic flavors of a cheesesteak with a crispy twist. Made with lean beef, bell peppers, onions, and melted provolone, they offer a delicious and balanced snack. Fry them in healthy oils or opt for air frying for a heart-friendly option. With a quick prep and cook time, they’re perfect for any gathering. Plus, incorporating wholesome ingredients can support your health and wellness goals, aligning with many health insurance wellness programs.

    Ingredients:

1 lb thinly sliced beef ribeye or sirloin (choose lean cuts for heart-healthy options)

1 tablespoon olive oil (packed with heart-healthy fats, great for lowering cholesterol)

1 large onion, thinly sliced (onions are low in calories and support immune health)

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (rich in vitamin C, boosts immunity)

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced (packed with antioxidants for overall wellness)

1 cup shredded provolone cheese (opt for a low-fat version to support healthy blood pressure)

1 package egg roll wrappers (check for low-sodium options to help maintain blood pressure)

Vegetable oil for frying (using healthier frying oils can support heart health)

Salt and pepper to taste (opt for reduced sodium for better heart health)

    Directions:

    1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Lean meats are excellent for maintaining muscle mass and supporting overall health. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

    2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. These veggies are rich in vitamins and minerals that help boost immune function and overall health. Season with salt and pepper (go light on the salt to protect your heart).

    3. Return the beef to the skillet and mix with the onions and peppers. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

    4. Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you. Place 2-3 tablespoons of the beef mixture in the center of the wrapper, then sprinkle with shredded provolone cheese. Provolone provides calcium and protein, which are key for bone health.

    5. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up tightly. Seal the edges with a bit of water.

    6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C). Fry the egg rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Frying in moderation can fit into a balanced diet, but consider air frying for a heart-friendly alternative.

    7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce (choose low-fat or low-sodium options to support overall health).
