    Old-Fashioned American Goulash Recipe

Looking for a hearty, easy dinner recipe that’s packed with flavor and nostalgia? This Old-Fashioned American Goulash is a family-favorite comfort food that combines tender macaroni, savory ground beef, zesty tomato sauce, and melted cheddar cheese all in one satisfying bake. Perfect for weeknights, potlucks, or make-ahead meals!

    Ingredients for Classic Goulash

    1 pound elbow macaroni

    2 pounds ground beef

    1 onion, finely chopped

    3 cloves garlic, minced

    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce

2 (14.5 oz) cans petite diced tomatoes

    1½ tablespoons Italian seasoning

    2 teaspoons salt

    ½ teaspoon black pepper

    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions: How to Make Old-Fashioned Goulash

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

    2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni 3 minutes less than package instructions. Drain and set aside.

    3. In a large skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onions for 6–7 minutes until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.

    4. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

    5. Add Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes. Stir to combine.

    6. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

    7. Mix in cooked macaroni and shredded cheddar cheese.

    8. If your skillet is oven-safe, transfer it directly to the oven. Otherwise, pour the goulash mixture into a greased casserole dish.

    9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the goulash is hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted to perfection.

Serve warm and enjoy a plate of classic American comfort!
This dish is ideal for meal prep, freezing, or feeding a hungry crowd.
