    Meatballs with Cheesy Potatoes

This Meatballs with Potatoes and Cheese recipe is the perfect comfort food! Juicy, flavorful meatballs are layered over tender potatoes, topped with creamy bechamel sauce, and baked to perfection with gooey mozzarella. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing dish ideal for family dinners or potlucks. The rich flavors of paprika, parsley, and nutmeg add a delightful twist to this classic meal. A warm, cheesy delight everyone will love!

    Ingredients:

    For the Dish:

    3 peeled, parboiled Russet potatoes

    1 diced white onion

    1 pinch dried paprika

    1 pinch dried parsley

    2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

    1½ pounds ground beef

Salt and black pepper to taste

    For the Bechamel Sauce:

    5 tablespoons butter

    4 cups milk

    4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    2 teaspoons salt

    ½ teaspoon nutmeg

    Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Bechamel Sauce

    1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

    2. Stir in the flour and whisk continuously, cooking for about 6 minutes until golden.

    3. Heat the milk in a separate pan until just below boiling. Gradually add the milk, one cup at a time, to the flour mixture, whisking until smooth between each addition.

    4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat slightly and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

    5. Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg for a rich, creamy flavor.

    Step 2: Prepare the Meatballs

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

    2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, diced onion, parsley, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

    3. Shape the mixture into medium-sized meatballs.

    Step 3: Assemble the Dish

    1. Slice the parboiled potatoes and layer them at the bottom of a baking dish.

    2. Sprinkle the potatoes with dried paprika and a pinch of parsley for added flavor.

    3. Place the meatballs on top of the potato slices.

    4. Pour the bechamel sauce evenly over the meatballs and potatoes.

    5. Top the dish with shredded mozzarella cheese.

    Step 4: Bake to Perfection

    1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

    2. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

Cheesy Goodness: The melted mozzarella creates a gooey, indulgent topping.

Comfort Food Classic: The combination of meatballs and creamy potatoes is pure comfort!
