    Korean Spicy Tuna Recipe

     

    This Korean Spicy Tuna dish is a beloved home-style recipe that’s quick, easy, and bursting with bold flavors! Made with canned tuna, fresh vegetables, and a rich, spicy sauce featuring gochugaru and sesame oil, it’s a perfect meal for any time of day. Serve it over steamed rice with a fried egg for a hearty and satisfying dish.

    Ingredients:

    2 cans (18oz/500g) tuna in oil
    4 jalapeños or 3 serranos, chopped
    6 cloves garlic, chopped
    1/2 onion, chopped
    1 bundle green onions, chopped
    4 tbsp soy sauce
    2 tbsp fish sauce
    1 tbsp sesame oil
    2 tbsp sesame seeds
    3 tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
    1 tbsp sugar
    Pinch of black pepper
    3 tbsp water

    Directions:

    1. Prepare the sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, gochugaru, sugar, black pepper, and water. Set aside.

    2. Layer ingredients: In a clay pot or thick-bottomed pan, arrange the tuna, peppers, garlic, onion, and green onions.

    3. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the ingredients.

    4. Cook: Cover and cook over medium-high heat until boiling. Reduce to medium-low and simmer for 8–10 minutes.

    5. Serve: Enjoy with steamed white rice and a fried egg for the ultimate Korean comfort meal!
