    Homemade Beef Lo Mein

    Homemade Beef Lo Mein

ingredients you’ll need to make Homemade Beef Lo Mein:

    For the Sauce:

    1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
    2 tablespoons sauce
    1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
    1 tablespoon sesame oil
    1 tablespoon rice
    2 teaspoons sugar
    1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
    1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
    For the Beef and Noodles:

8 ounces flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
8 ounces dried lo mein or egg noodles
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 cup sliced bell peppers (a mix of red, green, and yellow for color)
    1 cup sliced carrots
    1 cup sliced broccoli florets
1 cup sliced snap peas or snow peas
    1 cup sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup sliced green onions (scallions)
Sesame seeds and chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)
    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Set the sauce aside.

    2. Cook the Noodles
Cook the lo mein or egg noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and set aside.
    3. Marinate the Beef
Place the thinly sliced beef in a bowl and drizzle with 1-2 tablespoons of the prepared sauce. Toss to coat and let it marinate while you prepare the vegetables.

    4. Stir-Fry the Vegetables
Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Add the sliced bell peppers, carrots, broccoli florets, snap peas, and mushrooms to the hot pan.
Stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes or until they are crisp-tender and slightly caramelized.
Remove the cooked vegetables from the pan and set them aside.

    5. Cook the Beef
In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Add the marinated beef slices and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

    6. Combine Noodles, Beef, and Vegetables
Return the cooked noodles to the pan along with the cooked beef and stir-fried vegetables.
Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and toss everything together.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat everything through and allow the flavors to meld.
    7. Garnish and Serve

Transfer the Beef Lo Mein to serving plates or a large platter.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro if desired.
Serve immediately while it’s hot and flavorful.
Tips for Perfect Homemade Beef Lo Mein

Thin Slicing: When slicing the beef, make sure to cut it against the grain to ensure tenderness.
Vegetable Variations: Feel free to customize the vegetable selection based on your preferences. You can also add bean sprouts, baby corn, or water chestnuts for additional texture.
Spice Level: Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to suit your spice tolerance.
Serving Options: Beef Lo Mein is delicious on its own, but you can also serve it with soy sauce, chili sauce, or additional hoisin sauce on the side for extra flavor.
