    How to Make French Onion Soup

     

    White Sauce:

    1. Melt Butter and Cook Flour: In a 1-quart saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons butter. Add 3 tablespoons flour and cook on medium heat until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

    3. Incorporate White Sauce and Cheese: Add the prepared white sauce and 1/4 cup compressed Velveeta cheese. Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the cheese is melted and all ingredients are well blended.
    4. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the soup cook for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
