Delight in these scrumptious Carmelitas! A rich blend of buttery oats, chocolate, and caramel sauce, they’re a hit at any gathering. With just 10 ingredients and 15 minutes prep, a top favorite!

    Ingredients:
    Cookie Base:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup rolled oats
    • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
    • ½ teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Caramel Sauce:
    • 36 unwrapped caramels (Kraft brand)
    • ½ cup heavy cream

    Instructions:
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil sprayed with nonstick spray.

    2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, melted butter, and vanilla extract using a fork.

    3. Press slightly more than half of the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes.

    4. For the caramel sauce, microwave unwrapped caramels and heavy cream in a bowl at 60-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth. Use a whisk for a smoother sauce.

    5. Sprinkle the baked oat mixture with chocolate chips, then pour the caramel sauce over them.

    6. Top with the remaining oat mixture and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

    7. Cool completely before cutting. For quicker cooling, place the pan in the fridge once slightly cooled.

    Notes:
    • Use parchment paper or foil to prevent stickiness from the caramel.
    • Old-fashioned rolled oats add a chewier texture.
    • Have the caramels ready before starting.
    • Consider making the caramel sauce on the stovetop.
    • Experiment with various chip flavors and nut additions.
    • Store cooled bars airtight at room temperature for up to 5 days or
