    Ingredients:
    For the custard cream:
    – 3 egg yolks
    – 3 tablespoons (30 gr) of all-purpose flour
    – 1/2 cup (100 gr) of sugar
    – 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
    – 8 oz (235 ml) of milk

    For the cannoncini:
    – 1 sheet of puff pastry, defrosted (about 8 oz, 225 gr)
    – 1/4 cup (50 gr) of sugar
    – 1 egg (for egg wash)
    – powdered sugar to decorate

     

     

    How To Make Puff Pastry Cream Horns:
    Begin by crafting the custard cream (crema pasticcera):
    1. Heat the milk until hot (not boiling).
    2. In a medium pan, whisk egg yolks with sugar, vanilla extract, and flour until fluffy.
    3. Gradually add milk while whisking to prevent lumps.

     

    4. Place the pan over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens to a slow boil. Be vigilant to prevent sticking. Reduce heat and simmer for desired thickness.
    5. Transfer the cream to a glass bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for at least an hour.

    For the pastry horns:
    1. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC).
    2. Sprinkle sugar on the counter and puff pastry. Roll into a 9×12-inch rectangle.
    3. Cut into 12 strips (about 1 inch thick).
    4. Roll each strip onto a conical mold, ensuring overlap.

     

     

    5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, seam side down.
    6. Beat egg with water for egg wash. Lightly brush each cone.
    7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
    8. Cool for a few minutes, then gently remove from molds.
